Every year Turbo Tax leads me into taking a home office deduction. Now I read that deduction went away for W-2'd employees back in 2018. I need clarity. Confused in TX.
When I say every year, I mean since 1987, always for W-2'd jobs for which either my wife or I had no local office to go to. We even maintained separate phone and fax lines up until ~10 years ago. I have no doubt that these were legitimate deductions, but now I wonder about the past 2-3 years, even though TurboTax leads down the home office deduction path again and again.

Deductions & credits
Yes that was suspended back for 2018 returns. Deductions for job expenses have been suspended with the new tax act. See Deductions that have been suspended for 2018-2025
And see Turbo Tax FAQ on all the new 2018 changes
