Disabled veteran spouse, able to claim?
Hey folks.
My wife is a 100% disabled veteran and does not work. She collects monthly VA payments. I work full time and she raises our 4 year old 247. I make just under $60, what would be the best way to file to get the best refund?
Thanks,

Deductions & credits
File a joint return. Your wife's VA benefits are not taxable and do not get entered on the tax return. You can file a joint return even if one spouse has little or no income. That way you get the highest standard deduction for a married couple -- $24,800 -- which reduces the amount of income that is taxable, and any other child-related credits that you qualify for.

and use TT's "free version" - no need to pay for the software in your situation... or check to see if the VITA program or AARP serves your area with tax preparation services (it's free)
if you have a simple tax return.*

@mrklaxxon And....just in case it is still not clear.....you do NOT claim your wife as a dependent. Your child can be claimed as a dependent, You never claim a spouse as a dependent,
