W-4 change after moving

Hello, 

 

My family just moved to Florida from Minnesota last week. 
My wife now works and lives in Florida.  I, however, live in Florida but work remotely for a company in Minnesota.  
 
Should we submit new W-4’s to take away paying for income tax to Minnesota?   But if we have to pay income taxes to Minnesota since we lived there most of 2020 I don’t want to change our W-4’s too early. 
 
Florida does not have income taxes.
 
I would sure appreciate any help.

Once you moved you should have alerted the MN employer and they should have automatically stopped the MN withholding ... if not tell them to do so and fill in whatever withholding form MN has if needed.   The W-4 is for the federal return and doesn't need to be changed since you still have to pay federal taxes even if you live in FL.

Submit Minnesota Form W-4MN to your employer.  Check Box B in Section 2 to claim exemption from MN withholding.  Here's a link to the form:
