My state e-file is failing because the federal e-file has failed
My wife passed away in Feb 2020, which I have indicated on my 2019 return.
TurboTax is using our 2018 AGI for her ID, but the IRS is rejecting it and then my state return fails.
I have confirmed that the AGI is correct per my 2018 return.
I downloaded my 2018 transcript from the IRS - the AGI from the transcript matches the AGI on my 2018 TurboTax pdf.
Is there a solution other than mailing my return?

State tax filing
You can enter a zero for her AGI, that may work. Otherwise, you will need to mail them in. I am very sorry for your loss.

State tax filing
Thanks so much for the response and the expression of sympathy.
I tried zero, but that also failed.
We have used TurboTax for 21 years, and I realize that the problem may be on the IRS end, but I will likely go the paper route next year. I have wasted a lot of time on this and purchased a state e-file that cannot be used.

State tax filing
Since the social security administration blocks the Social Security Numbers of deceased persons to prevent fraud, it is almost always impossible to electronically file a tax return that includes a deceased person. Print the return and file by mail. Don't forget to also print and mail your state return.
I am sorry about your wife.
