I think I'm filing my state tax wrong. Any suggestions? It keeps acting like I owe the state money and I cant think of why I would?

I recommend reviewing the following items as a starting point:

  • Were you eligible for a tax credit last year that didn't apply this year
  • Did you have another source of income this year which wasn't there last year?
  • Did you change your job or withholdings?
  • Did you have higher deductions last year than this year?

Then review the items you had input into your return last year to ensure you are not missing a deduction that you had reported in the past but may not have entered into your return this year.

I think my federal and state were wrong because it said that I don't get a refund and I never showed my w-2 or my 1099
