Turbo Tax did this for me but is calling it a REFUND, not a carryover credit when my taxes were e-filed. Will it show up as a carry-over like it should?

Hmmm... interesting. At any rate, if you have a carryover from a TurboTax-processed return from a previous year, it should show up as a carryover.

I don't have any carryovers. I do not owe this year, either. I have nothing to balance the credit so will I lose it?

Yes, you can.
The credit for solar electricity and water heating, small wind energy, fuel cell, and geothermal heat pump property continues through 2021 with reductions in the credit beginning in 2020.
Please see the TurboTax Help article “How do I add or remove Form 5695?” for more information.
