State income taxes. My wife lived in New Jersey 11 months for school and moved back down to Maryland for 1 month for the last mo. I lived and worked in md for 12 mos. My tax software won’t let me file jointly. Do I need to file married filing separately, and she files part time for md and part time for NJ even if she didn’t make money because she was a student?
