I would like to know the name of the form used for tax return last year. Was it a 8843 or some other?
Due to my current status (F1 visa holder) I can't use turbotax this year. I'm trying to file my taxes this year, and I need to know the name of the form used for my tax return last year. Was it a 8843 or some other?

State tax filing
If you are in the US on F1 less than 5 calendar years you are a nonresident alien. If you have income to report, you would file form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ plus form 8843.
If you have no income, you would only file form 8843. You can download it here: https://www.irs.gov/uac/form-8843-statement-for-exempt-individuals-and-individuals-with-a-medical-co...
Tuebotax does not support this form, as it does not support filing for nonresident aliens

I think that you may be referring to Form 843, Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement.
An F-1 visa holder who is substantially complying with the requirements of that visa is exempt from the requirement to pay Social Security and Medicare - please see the following IRS link:
If you had Social Security and Medicare taxes withheld from your pay, you can pursue obtaining a refund of improperly withheld Social Security and Medicare taxes via two routes:
- You can request that your employer refund the withheld taxes to you.
- If the company will not refund the withheld taxes to you, you can file a claim for refund with the Internal Revenue Service on Form 843, Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement.
For more information, see the folllowing IRS guide on Social Security Tax / Medicare Tax and Self-Employment:
