It's not giving me a skip state option on state filing im in florida

State tax filing

Florida does not have a state income tax.   Only people who have Florida businesses or rental property with tangible personal property have to file a DR-405 with the county property appraiser by April 1 each year.

If you don't have a Florida business or rental property with such tangible personal property, then you do not have to file a Florida return.  When it offers you the Florida return, you can choose to skip the Florida return, or if one was started, delete the Florida return before paying and filing if it's not needed.

The option to decline the return is on a screen where it first says most people do not need a Florida return and mentions a Form DR-405 for those who have business or rental property with tangible personal property.

If you have already prepared the state return and haven't yet filed, you can delete the state return.

If you still can't figure out how to decline it or delete it, I'll see if a SuperUser from Florida can guide you.

The just ignore the state section entirely and click "NO" if/when the program asks if you want to prepare a DR-405.
