I filed my paper return 5 weeks ago. I tried to check the status via the IRS site and I keep getting an error saying that the info is not available. What else can I do?

After you file
Are you due a Federal refund?
Instead of the mobile app, have you also tried the IRS website tool:
http://www.irs.gov/Refunds
Or phoned the refund hotline?
800-829-1954
If push comes to shove, you can phone the IRS and ask an agent if it was received. For future reference, it's good to mail any returns as certified return receipt (or at least some kind of postal tracking), and avoid the uncertainty/anxiety.
IRS: 800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri
When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
First choose your language.
Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 4 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent, but there is likely to be a long wait.
I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.
