I was an independent sales rep of multi-level marketing comp :( They didn't give me 1099 because I didn't make more than $100. How do I claim my $4,000 expenses?

After you file

Yes, you will be able to claim your income and expenses as an independent contractor for the company on Schedule C as a self-employed individual. (This will require a TurboTax upgrade.)

Just include the income ($100) as additional income not reported on 1099-MISC (See Screenshot) and list all your expenses in the deduction section for a self-employed individual. The net loss will be reported on page 1 of your Form 1040.

Please refer to this IRS link for more information about Business Expenses

To enter your self-employment information in TurboTax, log into your tax return (for TurboTax Online sign-in, click Here and click on "Take me to my return") type self employed income" in the search bar then select "jump to self employed income". TurboTax will guide you in entering this information. You will used your SSN as your Employer Id Number.
