February return still not received.

I know there is nothing that turbo tax can do but I am wondering how bad it is among users.  Anyone over 6 weeks and waiting for a return give a thumbs up.  Anyone that received theirs place a Commet.

You are much less likely to receive responses from users who already received their refunds, since they are less likely to be perusing this site if they are done.

If you mailed your return you can expect it to take a number of months for processing.   If you e-filed, there have been delays for various reasons, including many mistakes made with the recovery rebate credit and/or the child tax credit.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

You will have to contact the IRS for the status of the 2020 federal tax refund.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate

I have not received my refund either.  The IRS is showing it was deposited into my account in March.  There is nothing there.  I cannot even get through to a live person to find out what is going on.  I filed a claim with the IRS.  I will never use TT again.

@shakeyz2 Have you called to have the payment deferred?

Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

Turbo tax should have warned us that our refunds were at risk of being held by months!!!  TT has let my family down and now they r going to take almost $300 from my account bc they did not prepare for this mess. If they debit me before I get my refund I will never use TT again and I will tell everyone I know and anyone who will listen to drop TT, Intuit, Quckbooks and whatever else I find out they own. This is outright fraud, misrepresented promises, incompetence and inept management of their customers! Do not discount how much time unhappy customers that TT has been predators of that are willing to put in to ensure their stock price plummets and they fail as a company.

You do not have to use TurboTax ever again if you do not want to.   But you need to be aware that no matter what tax software program you choose to use in the future ---- when you choose to have the fees deducted from your federal refund there will always be a fee for that choice, and there will always be a stipulation that you have to pay your fees within an allotted amount of time whether your refund arrives or not.   So avoid that situation.   Pay your software fees upfront.

And next time---see if you qualify to use any of the free filing services offered on the IRS site:

@anthonyoverpeck -you are venting to the wrong party - Vent at your Congressperson. They are the ones who provide the budget to the iRS and that limited budget is what has caused this.

also, the public was warned.  the IRS testified to Congress a few months back explaining 'this mess' and is in the process of hiring 10,000 people to solve this problem

The IRS has maintaining this website throughout the pandenic explaining their backlogs.

How long you may have to wait: The IRS understands the importance of timely processing of tax returns and refund issuance. We have processed all error free refund returns received prior to April 2021 and continue to work the returns that need to be manually reviewed due to errors.  We are continuing to reroute tax returns and taxpayer correspondence from locations that are behind to locations where more staff is available, and we are taking other actions to minimize any delays. Tax returns are opened and processed in the order received. As the return is processed, whether it was filed electronically or on paper, it may be delayed because it has a mistake including errors concerning the Recovery Rebate Credit and the Child Tax Credit, is missing information, or there is suspected identity theft or fraud. If we can fix it without contacting you, we will. If we need more information or need you to verify that it was you who sent the tax return, we will write you a letter. The resolution of these issues could take 90 to 120 days depending on how quickly and accurately you respond, and the ability of IRS staff trained and working under social distancing requirements to complete the processing of your return.
