Tax refund

We submitted our taxes after doing them with the Turbo Tax software. The taxes were checked at least five times before submitting. Our Federal refund was supposed to be $2579. We received a check for $1224 indicating that we did not pay into estimated tax payments thus the reduction in refund.  We never set up or agreed to paying into the estimated tax payments. Can you help with this.  During the process, Turbo Tax never mentioned this and it was not offered as something we can do.  Also, on our Delaware Tax refund, my husband's last name was cut off.  We are married filing jointly but do not have the same last name. Can you offer some assistance.

Sounds like you accidentally entered that you made an estimated payment.  Is there an amount on schedule 3 line 8 that goes to 1040 line 18d?  Do you recognize the amount like something you would have entered like for withholding?

After you file

$1355 was entered as a refund from Federal  considered refundable credits.

I don't understand.  Was that something you entered?  Turbo Tax calculates any credits you get.  You don't enter any refunds yourself.  You had to manually enter that amount to get it on that line.  What were you trying to enter and where?  Or are they disallowing a credit on another line?  Which line is the 1355 on?

After you file

It is on Line 18d of the Federal and on Schedule 3 Line 8

After you file

the 1355 was considered an overpayment from 2018 taxes

Ok was it on your 2018 return line 21?  Did they maybe keep your 2018 refund for something you owed or adjusted your 2018 return?  Did you get a deposit or check for your 2018 refund?

After you file

It was  a deposit into our checking account

If you got the refund then it wasn't held over and applied to 2019 as an estimated payment.  Don't know how it got on schedule 3.  But it should not have been on your return.  Sorry the IRS is right to remove it.

OK, thank for your time and the information.
