Im still waiting on my refund

I filled my taxes February and a week later got accepted, it's been 6 months and still not received anything. I received a 5071C letter and I already identified myself as well, that was a week after it got accepted. How much longer should it take? Or do I have to go out my way to do something specific?

Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, the refund process is completely under the control of the IRS. The IRS says that most refunds would be issued within 21 days. But some returns need more processing and refunds will take longer, especially during these Covid-19 times when some IRS agents still work remotely.

Please read this IRS FAQ for more information.

This IRS document outlines IRS operations during Covid-19 times.

Please be patient, the situation will get better soon as some IRS agents are returning to their desks. You can check the status of your refund at this IRS web portal.

It has not been six months since February--since June is the sixth month of the year--at most it might be five months---which is a long time.  You got a letter asking you to verify your identity.  Once you provide the information the IRS needs it usually takes about nine weeks.  But....the IRS sent the humans who do those reviews home for about two months, so the clock stopped ticking on the time it takes to do the processing of a return like yours.  They are back now, so watch the IRS refund site for any information.  TurboTax does not get any updates after you file, so there will not be any news on this site about your refund.
