My son needs to file his own tax return, $3500 grant & $670 W2 income need to report. Turbo tax did not ask his income. Should I just put t$4170 to item 2b on form 8962?

No your son's $3,500 grant is not included in his Modified Adjusted Gross Income MAGI under the Affordable Care Act.
