Do you have to wait for the werk days to get approved by the irs

After you file

You asked:  "Do you have to wait for the werk (sic) days to get approved by the irs?"

By "approved" are you really asking about your efiled return being "accepted or rejected?"

No, it does not have to be a business day.  The IRS computers can accept/reject an efiled return 24 x 7.  However, the IRS will not start up officially until Monday, January 27.   So most people who have filed early will not know anything until after January 27.   And there may be a backlog for a couple of days when they do start up.

A few returns have been pulled early by the IRS for testing purposes, so you'll see reports from some users in this forum who efiled early and have already been accepted, and a few who have gotten refunds.   But in the overall picture, that is not common.  Most people are waiting for the IRS to start processing on Monday, January 27.

Also, in the meantime make sure that you successfully efiled and transmitted the return.   When you log into your account, at the Tax Home page do you see a status of "pending?"   If so, that is normal until the IRS ramps up and notifies you of acceptance or rejection.

You can check that page periodically to see if the efile status changes.  You should also get an email in the day or two after January 27, saying if it was accepted or rejected.
