After you file
Follow the instructions in the FAQ below to access prior year returns.
You can also get a copy of your return by doing the following;
- Order a free tax return transcript online or by mail from the IRS that has a lot (but not all) of the information from the return. Some people may not be able to do this.
- Pay the IRS $50 for an exact copy of your return

After you file
You can obtain a copy of last years return from the tax service you filed with. If you did not file a return. You simply file using the tax service of your choosing. You can file up to 3 yh ears back and still receive the return. Any further back and the irs is not obligated to pay out the return. You can always call 800-829-1040 they can help you with filing previous year returns and get copys of previous years.
