Try this trick to print your return:

1) Login to your TurboTax account.

2) Select Show on your Tax Home screen, then Your tax returns and documents.

3) Make sure the current tax year is highlighted, then select Add a state.

(You won't actually add a state, but this trick should allow you access to your return to save and print).

When I do that, it only gives me 4 pages.

The system is in transition from 2018 to 2019, so for now you can only print out the pages that would be necessary for filing a return by mail.  You cannot get to the worksheets, etc. until the change is complete, which will be sometime in December.

Funny isn't it ... the actual filed return is only 4 pages however the larger PDF with all the excessive worksheets can but up to 200 more pages ... sure makes it seem like the program did a lot of work doesn't it.

Note:  Every year, before mid-October, print a copy of your current year tax return and save it as a tax file and pdf, too.  That way you will have it when you need it for school, a loan, next year’s tax return, etc. without going through a lot of aggravation (and expense)  to get it.

when I do that, that year does not have a "add a state" option, only for 2019. I need to download and print my 2018 tax.

To add to Critter's post above, here's how you access your prior year's return.

You can access your prior year returns using the Documents tab in the navigation.

When you sign in, make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (with the same username) as in prior years.

  1. Select Documents from the navigation when it appears.
  2. Use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to choose the tax year you want and then select Download PDF.

Want to download your customer data including your prior year returns? Sign in to TurboTax and select Intuit Account to access all your data in accordance with our updated privacy policy.
