Yes, you can claim her.  If she accidentally used her own exemption then you will have to print your return and mail it.  The IRS will not accept the tax return through e-file if this is the case.

You should print your return and mail it to the IRS with your W2s and any document that has federal tax withholding. 

She can call the IRS or obtain a transcript online of her return to see if she used her own exemption by mistake.  At this amount of income, an amendment should not be necessary.

    • Call very early or very late in the day for the least amount of hold time.  
    • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., local time
