- Select the My Info tab on the left
- Select the blue pencil to the right of the screen, next to the dependents name you wish to edit
- Edit their name
If you have already filed, after you click Transmit Returns
Now, your e-file goes to pending status, where it will stay until it's either been accepted or rejected by the government. You cannot make changes during this time. Your return will likely be rejected when the IRS sees that the name and social security number do not match. You can edit it once your return is rejected.
