After you file
If for any reason a recalculation needs to be performed and your refund either increases or decreases, the IRS will send you a letter to notify you of the reasons why. Now, if you feel you made an error and you want to correct it, you can amend the return. However, the 1040X form for amending is not available until mid to late February. The TurboTax FAQ below will be updated with instructions once the form is available.
