I e-filed my IRS tax return on Saturday 3/16 and it has not been accepted yet. How long does it usually take form them to acknowledge receiving the return?

After you file

The IRS states it can take 48-72 hours from when the returns were submitted for the IRS to either accept or reject your returns. You will get an email notification to let you know when they have been accepted.

When you e-file you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your e-file.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.

If you e-filed your return, you can check the status of your e-filed return, here - e-file status lookup tool  Wait at least 24 hours after e-filing to check. After your tax return has been accepted you will be able to start checking your status on the Where's My Refund? site.  Make sure you wait at least 24 hours after acceptance before using WMR.

I completed my taxes; efiled and now I can't get back into my Turbo tax files without reactivating the whole program.

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
