Mfj to mfs. do i file another 1040 for my spouse along with my 1040x?

After you file
You do need to file a return for your spouse but you don't have to include it with your 1040x.
f you're mailing two or more tax returns to the IRS at the same time, consider placing each in its own envelope, then place each of those envelopes into a larger envelope.

Not sure why you are switching to MFS since it is usually the worst way to file, but if you are making that switch, you have to do it before the filing deadline of April 15, 2019. After the filing deadline you are not allowed to change from MFJ to MFS.

Not if you originally efiled. Her social security number will show as already used in the efile system.

gotcha so have to mail in her 1040 aswell as the 1040x i do for my return? thanks for the replies

My pleasure. It is not required but when I send returns to the IRS, I do it return receipt requested.
