Unemployment tax break
If I was only on unemployment for this whole year from January through September due to covid, and they didn’t take out any taxes from it, am I going to owe a lot back in taxes for 2022 or will there be another unemployment tax break?

No one knows if Congress will pass a law waiving any of the tax on unemployment for 2021. We can just hope that if they do so, they do it before everyone starts filing tax returns instead of waiting until the middle of tax season to cause lots of trouble for everyone again.

Good afternoon,
Based on current tax law, unemployment income collected in 2021 is subject to income tax.
Without additional detail on your personal tax situation, I am not able to comment on whether you will owe a lot in taxes when you file in 2022.
