At the end of the review process, it asked me whether I wanted to pay via CC or by taking the fee out of my return, however we are active duty military E-5.

We should NOT be charged any fee.  Why did this year, Turbo Tax charge us?

Get your taxes done using TurboTax

If you entered your military W-2 then you should not be charged for the Free or Deluxe online editions being active military with a pay grade of E-5.
