I received a 1099-G form for unemployment insurance compensation. Turbo tax does not list Unemployment as a payment type. What payment type should I use to report this income?

UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return.
You will have to enter a 1099G that is issued by your state.
Some states will mail out the 1099G. Or you might need to go to your state’s unemployment website and use the password, etc. that you have been using to certify for weekly benefits to get your 1099G from the state’s site.
Enter your 1099G in Federal>Wages & Income>Unemployment
Go through the screens very carefully, making sure to enter any federal/state tax you had withheld from the unemployment.

We are using the Home and Business version of TurboTax.
My husband is self-employed and received unemployment benefits and received a 1099-G form. We are unsure if the 1099-G should be reported in his business or in the personal section. If in the business section, is it reported as income?
Thanks

The 1099-G is reported as personal income and not business income as it is not directly related to the operation of his business. Therefore, it would not be considered self-employment income.
You will enter this information in the federal interview section under the Personal Income tab.
- Select Personal Income and select I'll choose what I work on
- Scroll down to All Income and select Unemployment
- Select Unemployment and paid family leave
- You will be able to enter your information from your Form 1099-G
I have also attached a link with more details on how to locate the information you need from your Form 1099-G.
