The 2020 software will not be available until sometime in mid to late November--maybe early December for online software.

The only thing that is absolutely certain at this time, is that the online version fo TurboTax 2019 goes away permanently and forever on Oct15th. (Oct 20th for those that have a rejected efile on Oct 15th.

So after Oct20th that's when they programmers start preparing for the 2020 tax filing season. At best, the online version of TurboTax 2020 will be available in December at the earliest.

For the CD version if the past is anything t go on, the CD version will not be available for purchase until mid-December.

Thank you! I was poking around thinking somewhere there would be a 2020 start page, it does make sense that the wizards need some time to do their wizardry to match up to current scenarios! Guess I need to stop chomping!!

And....please do not be so hot to trot that you try to e-file the minute the software starts allowing it.  Every year at the beginning of the tax season there are people so eager to file they file too soon---and then more W-2's, 1099's etc. arrive in the mail.   Employers have until the end of January to issue W-2's, and there are a lot of other documents that will not arrive in your mailbox until sometime in February.  It's great that you want to get your stuff together and be organized---but be careful and make sure you have everything before you file.

That's the primary reason why I never e-file my return before March 15th. It's inevitable that I will get a 1099-MISC in the mail. Additionally, I like to give time for program errors to be found and fixed with an update, before I go e-filing my return.

The eager beavers usually end up amending, while the patient ones can get their taxes done with time to spare and not have to deal with it for that tax year ever again.
