Hi, I open a hsa with fidelity using my after tax money. For the tax return, what is the proper way to report to irs? Does IRS need a proof for having a hdhp? My w-2 wont show my contribution since I open the hsa using my after tax money. First time using HSA, anyone please educate me? thanks

Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Enter it as a personal contribution in the HSA section of TurboTax. Form 8889 will show your HSA contribution and must be included with your tax return. Beyond the marking of the appropriate box on line 1 of Form 8889, proof that you qualify for an HSA contribution is only required if the IRS asks for it later, which I've never heard of them doing.
