Why are other tax places accepting E File returns but turbotax is not?

WHile other entities may be accepting e-filed returns, they IRS is *NOT* and will not until the end of january at best. Could be later. So if you submit a return now, all it does is "SIT THERE" until the IRS pulls it. So if it's sitting there and you need to make a change, you can't do squat until the IRS pulls it and "IF" you're lucky, the IRS rejects it. If the IRS accepts it, then you have to wait until they process it, before you can amend the return. Add to that, amended returns can not be e-filed. The IRS says so. You have to print, sign and mail the return to the IRS. To add even more to that, since amended returns are processed by hand it can take 6-12 weeks, and usually longer for them to process it.

If you were to e-file your return with TurboTaxc right now, then you're locked in until the IRS starts pulling those returns. Heck, there was one year where the IRS didn't start taking e-filed returns until the third week of Feb.

Turbo Tax will let you efile now if all your forms are ready.  But the IRS has not finalized all the forms yet.

But The IRS won't start taking returns until January 27, 2020. So your return will just sit at Turbo Tax until then and you can't get it back if you need to make changes.

If you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) the IRS cannot issue EITC and ACTC refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects most EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Check Where’s My Refund for your personalized refund date.

And don't file early!  Last year (for 2018) the IRS put out some late changes and some early filers got tax due notices after they got their refund.  Also if you file in an early batch they get stuck in processing and might even take longer to get your refund.

And You should wait because you might get a late W2 or 1099 in the mail.  They have until Jan 31 to send you the tax forms.  Or they may send you a corrected W2 or 1099 even later.
