Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Since you need to file both a 1040 and a 1041. You will need two separate versions of TurboTax. You will need to use the TurboTax Business to file your 1041 (see FAQ below) and for your 1040 I would suggest you start for free online and see where it takes you, depending on your 1040 filing needs. (You can use Premier if you like for your 1040)
  • I have included additional information on our Freedom product vs our Federal Free Edition regarding your 1040, in case you qualify.

You'll need  TurboTax Business  to file Form 1041, as the personal versions of TurboTax do not support this form.

TurboTax Business (Windows only) is available on CD or as a download. It's not available for Mac or in our online versions of TurboTax.

You may be using the TurboTax Federal Free Online Edition, not the Freedom Edition. Please review the following information and links regarding the two products. (For your 1040)

Here are the differences between these similar-sounding TurboTax products:

  • TurboTax Freedom Edition is geared towards lower-income filers, regardless of tax return complexity, and is only offered through the IRS Free File Alliance (FFA) program. No upgrades are available, but state returns are free.
  • TurboTax Federal Free Edition, on the other hand, can be used by higher-income filers but only handles simple returns (1040EZ and some 1040A returns). Upgrades and add-ons, such as TurboTax PLUS and Audit Defense, are available. Finally, free state returns are available for a limited time only with the Absolute Zero promotion which ends on March 17.

Freedom Edition is available online at www.taxfreedom.com . Please note that the Freedom Edition website is not connected to the TurboTax.com website.
