Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You can complete a tax return such as you describe in TurboTax online Deluxe, as long as you do not have any expenses to deduct that are related to your self-employment (Form 1099-MISC).  The Deluxe program this year (2016) will handle simple Form 1099-MISC (self-employment) income, but not related deductions.  For that, in the online TurboTax programs, only Self-Employment has that feature.  Deluxe online, of course, can handle W-2s for wage income, as well as many other things.  While our Free File version will accept W-2 income, it will not process Form 1099-MISC.

As such, Deluxe online may be appropriate for you, and it is the least expensive "paid" version of the program we have.  (It is also our most popular offering by volume.)  You would only need to "upgrade" to the TurboTax for Self-Employment version of the software if also you have business expenses you want to deduct, and / or assets to depreciate.  Otherwise, Deluxe should do for straightforward self-employment (1099-MISC), Schedule C, income.
