No, a spouse can not be a dependent. You list yourself as spouse and you get a personal exemption for that.


See page 11 of IRS Publication 501 which says:

“Your spouse is never considered your dependent.”

There's another question in the persoanl info section that asks if someone else, other than you spouse, can claim you as a dependent. Answer NO, unless you know, for sure, that someone, like your parents, will be claiming you.
