Yes, you may pay your taxes using TurboTax. TurboTax allows you to use the Direct Debit feature. Direct debit is a way to pay your IRS taxes directly from your bank account.

The money is withdrawn from your bank account on the date you specify (if filing on or before the deadline) or when your return is accepted (if filing after the deadline). We don't charge an extra fee for direct debit.

With direct debit, the IRS withdraws the entire owed tax amount from your bank account. Direct debit for partial payment is not available, and direct debit is only available in TurboTax if you e-file your federal return (although paper-filers can use a similar service from the IRS as a workaround).

If you want to pay by credit card, you may go through the IRS website: See Ways to Pay Your Tax Bill - IRS.gov

I don't know what all you have done.    Did you start preparing a return at the TurboTax IRS Free File website, which is a special website separate from Online TurboTax?    And are you asking how to go back to a paid edition at the regular Online TurboTax site?   If that's your situation, we can tell you the way to switch back without starting over.

If you did NOT start a return at the TurboTax IRS Free File website and want to use a paid edition of Online TurboTax at the regular website, then log out of all Intuit accounts.   Empty your browser Internet cache and delete any Intuit-related cookies.

Close the browser and reopen it.

Go to this page, choose your product, and click "Start for free."

No.

Sometimes it takes longer to process your payment as the peak filing season occurs.

TurboTax takes your information and submits it to the IRS as you enter it.

You can use the following link to determine the status of your payments and account with the IRS directly.  This is your best option at this point in time.

I have the same problem. I am afraid we won't know until bank day closes. I called and waited hours, yesterday, for a response. Turbo Tax can't answer. They say payment will be properly applied, but that is verbally. No system or bank confirm yet. Not good enough.  I regret making payment through turbo tax. It's obvious they don't have a payment processing system

Agree. Not a great experience by Turbo Tax and very unclear whether I actually made my payment to IRS and there is no clear way to check..not sure how this was missed by Product Management.

so during my review it say's I'll get an X amount of federal refund but the amount is as if the refund has also paid for the owed state taxes. (Example : 800 federal refund and -500 state taxes owed = 300 federal refund)

does that mean that my state taxes will be paid via turbotax using my federal refund or will i still have to pay my owed taxes when i efile?

It is not possible to pay any state taxes due out of a Federal refund.  You have to pay all state taxes owed yourself by whatever method your state accepts.   The ONLY thing that can be paid out of a Federal refund is the TurboTax preparation fees.

The screen you are referring to is confusing, and we have complained to TurboTax about it many times, and apparently they have not made it more straightforward.  Each year many people ask this same question you did.

Using the figures you provided in your example, the screen is saying you have $800 in Federal refund and owe $500 in State taxes, and just informing you that you would have a net result of $300 in your pocket when all is said and done; i.e., after you receive the Federal refund AND after you have paid your state taxes yourself.  Obviously that screen does not make that clear and is confusing to many.    I don't see any advantage of them even summing it like that, since it's so confusing.  I think they should just show the first 2 figures; i.e., the Federal refund and the state taxes owed.

Review the wording on that screen again carefully; I believe it's very subtle.  I have no way to view that screen, but I don't believe they call the net $300 a "Federal" refund like you labeled in your example.  If it does, then it shouldn't.   They may just refer to as "refund" or "net" or "total", but I have no way to check.  But anyway, it's easy to misinterpret it that way, and it confuses many folks.    In any case, it is not saying that the state taxes will be paid out of a Federal refund, which cannot be done.   The IRS and state tax agency are 2 separate entities, each doing their own thing.   And TurboTax does not pay the state taxes for you, but for many states they provide a screen for you to make the payment through the program.   When you go through the filing process, it should tell you what your tax payment options are for your particular state.    You must pay the state taxes owed yourself, using whatever method your state allows.

What if it has been a week and the funds still have not processed, I don't want the funds to be late.

This TurboTax Help article states that you won't get penalized as long as you have selected your payment date on or before May 17, 2021.

This is an issue with the IRS now, as they are overwhelmed with tax changes, stimulus and refunds. Please be patient. They will get their payment.

Thought that I would be asked to pay State Taxes and was not.  I live in VA - do I have to pay manually, or is there a link to make the payment!
