Taxes on Social Security income

Should I have taxes taken out of social security income monthly?

Do you have any other income besides the SS?   If your ONLY income is Social Security you do not even need to file a tax return.   Please provide some details--without any of your personal information.

If your only income is Social Security, you won't owe any tax.  but if you also receive retirement income, sell stocks, rental income, etc. it is possible that up to 85% of your Social Security will be taxed and it is a good idea to withhold on your Social Security payments.
