Unemployment

I don’t understand why I didn’t receive the rescue plan for unemployment, I had taxes taken out but they still said I wasn’t qualified to receive it even though I did receive my 1099-G can you explain to me why I wasn’t qualified? Lisa

Unemployment

@Lborelli77

Lisa, I am sorry that you did not receive the refund that you were anticipating. There are a number of factors that determine whether or not you would be eligible for a refund. Depending on the total amount of income that was reported, the unemployment may, or may not, have been taxed when the tax return was filed. If the income was not taxed at the time of the original tax return, there would be no additional refund.

If you would like more detailed information as it pertains to your situation, please reply here with your filing status and taxable income as reported on your tax return, along with the amount of unemployment received in 2020.
