IP PINs change annually, so you want to make sure you are using IP PIN(s) issued for 2025 for returns you are trying to file now.
If you have verified the IP PIN(s) are correct and the return is still being rejected, the only other option for you is the paper file the return. You will have to print and mail the return to the IRS and state (if applicable). This article explains how to generate a return to print and mail in TurboTax: How do I file my return by mail?
It said that My ip pin was correct, but my dependant did not receive one. He is a 22yr old w a disability & has never claimed taxes, always only my dependant.
So how can this be fixed. Every time I call they just say that it should've come in the mail. It didn't & I was never sent another copy. What do I do now?
IP PINs are issued by the IRS directly. Unfortunately, if you did not receive the IP PIN, the only other option is to print and mail the return as described above. The IRS will not accept an electronic filing if any taxpayer, spouse, or dependent on the return that has an IP PIN that is missing or incorrect.
I'm sorry for misunderstanding, thank you
Do I Have to use an ip pin at all?
No worries!
If you, your spouse, and/or a dependent were issued an IP PIN, then it is required to e-file the return. If they were voluntarily issued (you requested the IP PIN), then you can opt-out in future years. If you or a dependent were ever a victim of identity theft, the IRS will not allow an opt-out, and the IP PIN(s) will be required to e-file the return.
You can try to seek reissuance of the IP PIN here:
