Claiming EIC while studying abroad

I am a PhD student completing my studies in the UK at an accredited university approved my the US Department of Education. During my studies, I am also doing some freelance research work. My family has come to live with me in the UK while I finish my studies. As we are still considered US residents because of my student status, would it be possible for me to claim Earned Income Credit even though we have not lived for more than six months in the US for the last tax year?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Studying abroad (for your education) is considered a "temporary trip" and does not count as living outside of the U.S. When going through the TurboTax interview, you should not enter that you lived outside the U.S. in 2018. Then, if you qualify otherwise, you will get the credit.

Good luck in school!
