WV Motor Vehicle Property Tax Adjustment

I couldn't upgrade to Windows 11, so I've opted to use the TurboTax online premier edition.  I intend to file both Federal and State returns electronically. I followed the instructions on inputting  the required information from my MV-1 form, which was the Credit Claim Number and the Eligible Amount Paid On Time.  In the course of reviewing my returns before submitting them, I can see the dollar amount  in box 21A but I cannot find the Credit Claim Number (printed in red on my MV-1 form) anywhere on the return.  I'm 100% sure that I keyed it in.  I'm concerned that if it is not showing somewhere on the return, they will disallow the tax adjustment for our two vehicles.  If it doesn't show on my state tax return, how does it get transmitted to the tax department?

Yes, line 21A is the correct line number to report this. Codes like claim numbers, driver's license numbers, or certificate IDs are part of the XML data packet transmitted directly to the state. They are often "hidden" fields that do not appear on the PDF version of the return that you print for your records.

The claim number is usually embedded in an electronic "attachment" sent to the state but does not appear in the PDF printed version. If you see this on line 21A, it has been properly transmitted with the claim number safely embedded in the email transmission sent to the state.
