Question

We're wanting to claim our 19yr old full time student child as a dependent bc we provided 90% support, where do we report their $15K in wages from their W-2's?

Child works to pay for college, some clothing, fuel for a vehicle, some food, etc. Do they need to file a return stating that someone else is claiming them?

You can claim your 19-year-old full-time student child as a dependent since you provide more than half support.

The dependent will file a separate tax return reporting the wages in W-2.

The dependent will indicate in the tax return that someone is claiming him as a dependent.

Yes they have to file their own return for it.  To file a separate return for a dependent in the Online version you need to set up a new account separate from yours.  Online is only good for one return per account.  You can use the same email address for 5 accounts.  You can probably use the Free Edition

Be sure on the dependent return you check the box that says you can be claimed on someone else’s return.  If their only income is W2 and under 12,550 they do not have to file a return except to get back any withholding taken out.
