Will that make a difference in our refund?

If it was for homeowner's insurance, it is NOT deductible.

If it was for private mortgage insurance (PMI), then

1.  Sign in to Turbo Tax.

2.  Go to Deductions & Credits.

3.  Select I'll choose what I work on.

4.  Go to Your Home.

5.  Click Start or Update by Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance.

6.  Type your Lender Name when you get to that screen.

7.  Enter your info on Let's get the details from your 1098 now.  Click What if I don’t have my 1098? on that page if you have more questions.

8.  PMI goes in box 5 of the 1098.

9.  Continue through till you get back to the Deductions & Credits menu.
