W-2 BOX 12 CODE P - (excludable reimbursed moving exp) as I fill in the W-2 info. the program seems to be working correctly up to the point where I’m asked (their or two location already recorded on your return which one applies.)  If I choose other the refund amt. stays the same if I choose Ukraine my refund decreases by $1300. I thought the amt. was with code P was not taxable.

W-2 Info: Box 1- amt $291, Box 12- code P amt $4643.64.  My husband was a gov’t employee who moved to the Ukraine and worked for the US Embassy.

What do I choose and is the amt. in box 12 taxable?

Form 3903 must also be completed when you have a W-2 box 12 code P for excludable moving expenses.

This is because sometimes reimbursed moving expenses are not tax deductible. The IRS requires that you complete the Form 3903 to claim the deduction.

  • Sign into your account and select the 'take me to my return' button
  • Type '3903' in the search box, then select the 'jump to' link.

You have to complete form 3903 to claim the moving deduction to prevent the Code P from becoming taxable. Type 3903 in the search box to list the reimbursed amount.

Let me know if that works
