Tax Credit Tesla Purchase

I  purchased a Tesla Model 3 in June 2019. The dealer informed me that the $3750 tax credit was available for deliveries taken by June 30. I took delivery June 29. Turbo Tax only let me have $1875 credit. Is it programmed incorrectly?

The credit is limited to your federal income, so if your federal income was $1,875, that would be the maximum credit you would qualify for.

You can view a summary of your tax return in TurboTax to see what your tax was as follows:

1. Find the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar and click on it

2. Click on "Tools"

3. Click on "View Tax Summary"

1. My federal income is substantially higher than $1875

2. I do not see a left menu bar on the screen.

3. It was widely publicized that the credit was $3750 if one took delivery before June 30. I took delivery June 29 and have an invoice to prove it.

OK, I suggest you call and speak to a tax agent, they can do a screen share to look at your return with you. They will trouble shoot the issue to resolve it if the credit is not correct, or give you an explanation if the credit amount is correct.

I tried to do an entry to duplicate what you mentioned, but without the VIN number, the program won't let me go further, so I can't investigate it properly.
