My wife inherited a house in another state. Do we have to also fill out state taxes in the other state? Home is paid off.
My wife and i file jointly. She now pays property tax on it. No income from the other state.
If she has no income from the state where the home is located, then there is no state return required to be filed.
If she turns the property into a rental at a later date, then a return can be needed for that state.
