Solved

Is it really necessary to distinguish between local and out-of-town travel expenses (taxis, bus, parking)? Can I report it all under business travel? I'm self-employed.

Yes, local expenses that fall in that category of "travel" like for meals that are allowed, parking, etc. can be added together with out of town travel expenses and recorded in that section.
