My miles driven for business is not adding into my other itemized deductions.  So obviously Turbo Tax is recommending the standard deduction when my actual itemized should be significantly more

If you have a business as a sole proprietor or an independent contractor, business mileage is not entered as an itemized deduction on Schedule A.  It is reported on the Schedule C under Car and Truck expenses.

However, if you are a W-2 employee you cannot deduct any employee business expenses on a federal tax return due to the tax code changes in effect for tax years 2018 thru 2025.

Can I deduct job-related expenses on my tax return?

Sorry---W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return.  Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.  Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
