Solved

If there is more than one owner but the 1098 form was sent to only one of us. Do we split the points and interest or give it all to one of us and deal with it personally?

It depends.

You can do either but just make sure you both agree to the amounts reported to ensure both of you combined do not exceed the amount reported on Form 1098.

  1. Go into the Federal program.
  2. Select "Deductions & Credits"
  3. Select "Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098)
  4. Continue through the screens and enter information as prompted.

Be sure to answer the following question if you decide to either split the reporting of the mortgage interest.

1098 Info

You will then need to complete the following information on the next screen.
