If my wife claims Gilberto Jr as a dependent, will I still be able to write off his child care expenses which are deducted straight from my paycheck?
My wife and I are Married filing separately.
No, you would not be able to claim the dependent care expenses because Married Filing Separately status does not allow a deduction for dependent care at all, regardless if you can or cannot claim your son.
