I work from home for a company whose main office is in another state, though there is an office in my home state. Is this considered making money in another state?

No.   Many people have employers with headquarters in another state, whether they work in a local office/facility or work from home.  If you do not perform your actual work in the HQ state, you are not making money in another state.
