IF you are required to report the sale, then you would need the Premier online edition.

Was the house your primary residence, second home or a rental property?

I am using the Premier edition purchased at Costco but don't see any info on sale of my house or of a condo I had rented out.

To enter the information about the sale of your main home and report it on your return if required, use the following steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “sale of home” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to sale of home
  • Click on the blue “Jump to sale of home” link and enter your information

The sale of a condo that you rented will be started within the Rental Income and Expenses section of your return.  As you go through the details about the property itself in the Property Profile, there is a check-box to indicate that the property was sold in 2019.  Then, the details of the sale will be entered as you go through the Depreciation section, specifically going through the depreciation for the property itself.  You will indicate that the property was sold, give the date it was sold, and the other details of the sale.
