Question

I received the total child credit tax payment for both my children but I split it with my ex (their father). Do I put the total payment s or just half?

I actually only got payment for one of my children since I give him half. How do I report this on my tax return?

What you gave your ex is not relevant.  If the IRS sent you the advance child tax credit payments in 2021 for two children then that is the amount you report on your 2021 tax return as being received.

This year my ex and I are claiming one child each but last year I claimed both. How will this affect my taxes since I received child credit tax for both even though I split payments

Depending on your Adjusted Gross Income on your 2021 return you may not have to pay back any of the credit you received the second dependent that you are not claiming on the 2021 return.  Go through the Child Tax Credit section to see what the program tells you.

To enter, edit or delete child tax credit

Click on Federal Taxes
Click on Deductions & Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under You and Your Family
On Child and Other Dependent Tax Credit, click on the start or update button

Or enter child tax credit in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to child credit
